VR experience for HTC Vive or Oculus Rift

“Diatribes” is a Virtual Reality haunted house in which fears about global warming are explored inside a labyrinth environment. Visitors are invited to experience the horrors of decay as they maneuver through the ruins of a continuous battle between Nature and Civilization. It is currently in production, a demo for the first chapter premiered in Fall 2019 at Kala Art Institute as a roomscale VR experience housed inside an installation of 3D and 2D concept art. Diatribes will be released as 3 chapters, each installment is a 10-15 minute experience.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Veronica Graham is the lead creator on Diatribes. She is designing the world and orchestrating the interactions for players. Graham is a new media artist and printmaker based in Oakland, CA. In 2010 she founded Most Ancient, a design studio focused on experimental comics and exploration games. Her books have been collected by MoMA, The New York Public Library, and The Library of Congress. Her Virtual Reality projects have been presented at Kala Art Institute, Women’s Studio Workshop, San Francisco Art Book Fair, and Printed Matter (NYC).
Thomas Newlands is the gameplay programmer and effects artist on Diatribes. They tie pieces of content together and make sure they feel right inside of the funhouse world. Games they've worked on have been selected for events and spaces including: A MAZE. / BERLIN, the XOXO Arcade, the Mild Rumpus at GDC, and Indiecade Festival.
Julia Kim is the sound designer for Diatribes and a musician under the moniker Hidden Halls. She has played strings for bands such as Little Deadman and The Album Leaf.
