Fully Accessible Body, 2018

AR experience for HoloLens

Fully Accessible Body is a research on a live-performance experience where the presence of performers is not necessary. It central question is  - how can artists extend own physical capacities to do their beloved, but underpaid work and still be able to create for the audience an immersive live-show with the help of various digital tools.

Fully Accessible Body is a durational interactive live show, which explores the empowerment of the digital bodies in an interlude of the audience, real performers, interactive cyber avatars. The core tools in this project are the HoloLens and customised pulse sensors. 3D copies of BBB_ perform for the audience as interactive holograms. The HoloLens receives bio data of the audience, which influences the movements of the holograms. All measured pulse rates are live-streamed and on-the-fly translated into music effects like speed, echo, reverb and others, influencing the composition and intensity of the soundtrack. Here music is both: an expressed feeling and a collective experience.

The project raises questions like  „what makes a live-show experience so unique and special?”, „how can we quantify and qualify feelings?”, „how does an exchange between spectators and performers work?”, „what does it feel like to be a digital pop star and how are they and their avatars paid?”.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

BBB_ is a technologically advanced cross-disciplinary project, which works on the intersection of music, performance, art, design and contemporary philosophy. It was founded by Alla Poppersoni and Alexander Sahm in early 2015. The project works in live performance and installation format, experiments with digital voices, natural language processing, brain stimulating sound and interactive visuals, creating special atmosphere and a scenography for each piece. Through experimental electronic music, spoken word and immersive setups, BBB_ seeks ambivalent situations taking place at the interface of the human and the inhuman existence and speculates on various states of mind, relationships and self-perception, altered by socially and emotionally intelligent digital technologies.
